Education Unlimited - academic summer camps and pre-college summer programs

Sally Ride Science Camps encourage girls’ interests in science by giving them hands-on science learning and activities in an environment that is designed to be supportive, enriching, and – most importantly – fun! Education Unlimited® has partnered with Sally Ride Science, founded by America’s first woman in space, to provide innovative science programs for girls entering grades 4 through 9. These unique overnight camps provide girls an opportunity to explore science, technology, and engineering while doing fun science experiments for kids on an actual college campus.

Science Majors Each girl will choose a Science Major that will include several small labs and a significant culminating project.

• In our 4th & 5th grade overnight programs, students will choose between Intro to Marine Science and Intro to Engineering.

• Campers at 6th & 7th grade overnight programs will choose between Marine Biology and Astronomy.

• Finally, students enrolled in our advanced overnight programs for 8th & 9th graders will choose between Advanced Marine Science/Marine Ecology and Robotics.

Students in these majors will participate in hands-on activities, such as building rockets, robots, and marine habitats. Majors vary by length of program (not all majors are offered at all locations, please see above).

Enrichment Activities in the afternoons and evenings give girls an opportunity for informal science learning, as well as leadership and problem-solving training, through workshops, experiments, guest speakers, and recreational activities. Students will also attend a mid-program excursion to a local science venue.

8th and 9th Grade Girls will participate in an advanced program that will allow them extra time to explore our unique majors and activities.

A Sally Ride Science Camp graduate will have:

• Completed the exclusive Sally Ride Science curriculum
• Participated in lots of hands-on science learning and activities
• Gained confidence and experience in a supportive girls-only environment
• Learned from experienced and inspiring instructors
• Made lots of new friends
• Experienced a taste of college life

The Staff at Sally Ride Camp is made up of a fantastic group of role models who are teaching and/or studying science full-time and are excited to share their passion with young people.
